Public Records (Open Records Requests)
Under the Georgia Open Records Act, residents may request access to public records maintained by the city.
How to request records
Submit your request in writing to the City Clerk, who serves as the city's Open Records Officer. Please describe the records you are seeking as specifically as possible so we can respond promptly.
Response time
The city will respond within three business days of receiving your request. If records are available, we will provide them or give a timeline and any cost estimate. If records are exempt from disclosure, we will cite the specific legal exemption.
Fees
The city may charge reasonable fees for search, retrieval, and copying as permitted by state law. We will notify you of any expected cost before fulfilling the request.
Records not subject to disclosure
Certain records are exempt under Georgia law, including some law-enforcement, personnel, and personally identifying information. Exempt portions may be redacted from otherwise releasable records.
